Morgan Stanley and Goldman sanctioned to be banks

The two investment companies Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley will be converted into banks and will be controlled by Federal Reserve as Fed approved applications of the two institutions to become banks.

The Federal board increased the abilities of the two financial firms to take loans from the central banks. These companies approached Fed after the collapse of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.
