Movie review: ‘I Served the King of England’

The film ‘I Served the King of England’ is about an old man who remembers his youth in Czechoslovakia. He remembers being with a German woman, Liza by the end of World War II and when she died he got a legacy and he becomes a millionaire. He memorizes doing small jobs like working in a restaurant and on war front.
The film is based on a novel, “Closely Watched Trains,” by Bohumil Hrabal. The film stars Ivan Barnev, Oldrich Kaiser and Julia Jentsch and it is directed by Jirà Menzel.
