Movie Review: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

The movie by Julian Schnabel is based on a real life story and is a biographical like his previous movies “Basquiat” and “Before Night Falls”. The real life of Jean-Michel Basquiat and his colleague Mr. Schnabel is shown in the movie. Bauby is am editor in a French fashion magazine and is the writer of the bestseller “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”.

The author suffers a stroke and gets paralyzed unable to speak or move his body. He can understand everything but he cannot react. He is kept imprisoned to not to spread infections and his family and friends visits to see him in the hospital. his luxurious past lives is remembered in the movie and the shows his self indulgence for which he does not feel sorry.

His abandoned his first wife with his three kids for other woman who comes to meets him in hospital. The movie is a good to watch which goes spiritual at the end.
