The drug companies are spending millions towards advertising their products directly to the patients and only two countries United States and New Zealand allow the drugs to be directly advertised to the patients. The drug companies consider going directly to patients increases drug prescriptions.

But a group of researchers who studied the effect of direct advertisements in Canada, where a direct advert is illegal, have found that the companies are least benefited on going directly to the patients.
