States collecting data of mentally ills ineligible to buy guns

The US states are arguing over the data of so called mentally ill people who are termed ineligible to buy weapon like gun. The database of list of people are getting more names added after the Virginia shootings incident as the test for the mental health of a person to issue a gun was strictly followed after the incident.

The government had asked the list to have more names after the student Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 students and people at the Virginia University and later committed suicide. The mental health of Seung-Hui Cho was not submitted to registry of mentally ills and he possessed two handguns.

The justice department reported that the number of mentally ill unfit for acquiring a gun has doubled from the addition of named from 28 states and it went up to 393,497.Earlier names from 22 states were present in the register.
