A report released on military officials indicated that suicidal tendency has increased in army troops and the report indicated a lack of policies and facilities to bring down suicidal tendencies in troops.

About 128 soldiers committed suicide in the year from 2007 to 2008 and the average rate of 20.2 suicides for every 100000 army men was reported. For the first time the Army suicide rate has gone beyond the national rates.
