The questionnaire had a series of cartoons from light to dark color and the five year old white girl selected the black cartoon for the question “who is mean?” and she points out to light color cartoon when she is asked “who is the smart child.”She said she selected the white for smart because it resembled her.

The questionnaire was asked by a research team and it showed white children are biased towards whites. Black children are also biased towards whites but it is not as strong as it is found in white children. The study was designed by researcher Margaret Beale Spencer.
