Georgia breaks ties with Russia

Georgia broke diplomatic ties with Russia and U.S. government issued a statement that it is not surprised over the reaction from the Georgian government. Washington opposed Russia planting its military bases in Georgian region of South Ossetia.

As per the UN recognized laws the regions South Ossetia and Abkhazia are Georgian areas that were supported by Russia through the Security Council resolutions but after the attacks Russia occupied the area and planted its military bases in the regions.
